The Power of Flickr

My grandmother passed away on Tuesday, July 23. She was 91 years old and a wonderful woman. She was a high school English teacher in Parma, Ohio. She always loved to tell me how ridiculous it was that I only had 18-20 students in my classes. She would tell me about her classes of 50 and that she would grade all of their essays in one night and return them the next day. I am not sure how she did it on top of being a loving wife and mother to 3 children. Her last days were very tough. My mom and my family had a terrible time watching her deteriorate. Cancer is a terrible thing. I have had a tough time getting those images out of my head, but thanks to Gran I was able to with the power of pictures. She had saved TONS of them, but it took me a long time to skim through all of them. My end result was two posters and a few framed pictures of a wonderful woman who loved a good time and most of all her family. She was beautiful. So, what does my somber post have to do with technology? I am in the process of scanning those pictures of Gran and will be able to share them with family in Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. Best of all, my family will have a lasting memory of Idamae Burke... Mom...Gran...GG. We will miss her so much.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother's death. I was fortunate to have mine until she was in her ninety's, and my girls have wonderful memories of her, too. Sounds like you were blessed to have her.
