i LOVE learning!

It has been too long since my last post, but I have been busy. From the Teach42 blog, I found great videos about Conquering Technophobia from Discovery Streaming. It led me to six other videos about web 2.0 tools. What a teaser to encourage me to dig more. i LOVE learning! Check them out:

Today I did a presentation to staff using these videos and giving the teachers time to explore as Dembo and Davidson say. I was jazzed. People learning, sharing, collaborating. Yeah! THEN (duh duh duh), I met with my department. I was disappointed in the reluctance to try something new, to think of the students first, to take on a challenge. Why are educators the first to expect to get new tools in the classroom and the last to actually use them?

you've been daused

  1. Interesting question at the end of your post.
Getting something and using it are two very different things.

My answer to your question would be 1) complacency as in "what I am doing is fine (or at least good enough" 2) you see it differently than many teachers....for some teachers it is a job for others it is a passion.

You have a passion about making it meaningful/engaging for the students. It takes WORK to have that happen. Sadly not everyone is willing to put in the same amount of work.
